NAHB International Builders Show (IBS)

I am getting ready to head to IBS. Everyone I say that to does a double-take. IBS, really? IBS, the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) International Builders Show IBS, or just the Builders Show is next week. If you are involved with a Home Builders Association (HBA), Building Industry Association (BIA), the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB), or the Kitchen and Bath Association (KBA) – this is the show to be at.

For our readers who are members of NAHB, NAHB committee and council meetings are Sunday January 17 and Monday January 18, including meetings for the Professional Women in Building Council. Please refer to the NAHB Meetings – PWB (you may need to select PWB in the group) on the Builder Show site for more information.  PWB Happenings may also be found on the Builder Show site.

In addition to happenings/talks (lots of info below) I’m involved with at the show itself, there are NAHB committee and council meetings, education sessions, trade show, networking events, and of course, Las Vegas itself.

How to Get Women Asking for More Green, Marla

12:00 – 1:00 PM, Tuesday

Design Studio, South Hall – S224

A green home, especially a green-certified home, often means mindful choices, using what we have wisely and sometimes just plain old common sense.  For your clients, green homes are more than “just” energy and cost savings, they provide impact for a better living environment through health and safety, convenience and time, comfort, ease and money.

Explore how you and your team can learn to speak the language of “green,” especially to your women home buyers and clients and have them asking for more green in their new homes. This new language with “her” lingo and key phrases will help you sell more houses AND green elements. Talk the language to sell the emotional value (a.k.a. the benefits) of energy-efficient and green features in a home.

You want your clients’ homes to work for them. You know they want it to look great AND perform well! Are you concerned that some of the products and materials you use in your remodel projects may not be the best choices for your clients, but you don’t have the time or know-how to easily find better choices and products? The most frequently remodeled, redecorated and rehabbed rooms of our homes are the kitchen and bathrooms. These same two rooms also use the most water, energy, resources and chemicals.
Hundreds of better and safer options are easily available. Finding five things to do in the kitchen and/or bathroom is a great way to start. Join us to learn how tweaking what you recommend and buy, even a little bit, offers you opportunities to benefit your clients’ family, community and world.
