A few years ago, Krissy wanted to honor and help community superheroes like her firefighter grandfather. She also wanted to contribute to and promote more sustainable, energy-independent communities. The result of both is a project to honor community superheroes – Solar for Our Superheroes. To hear more about Krissy’s dream, hear her talk on the TedX stage.
I met Krissy in 2013 and when she started Solar for Our Superheroes, she asked me to join her board. What an honor! She held her first celebration and fundraiser last August and has been hard at work since. August 16 marks the 2nd celebration and fundraiser and will also celebrate working with Boston Solar to help provide solar panels to selected community superheroes. Please join me in supporting this project.
Solar for Our Superheroes (S4OS) is the first project of the nonprofit organization Honoring Our Mother Earth (HOME; 501c3 status pending). The goal of S4OS is to thank local superheroes in communities all over, starting in Massachusetts, by helping them become educated about and get access to solar panels. The project is aimed at thanking leaders such as, but not limited to, veterans, active duty military, policemen, firefighters, and teachers all over New England, people who commonly have an impact on our daily lives. While independent from, the project is made possible by, and with great thanks to, our partner The Boston Solar Company.
Krissy Truesdale, the project’s founder recently graduated from Phillips Exeter Academy and is headed to Clark University this fall. She is a Massachusetts native, and a lover of people and our planet. “When I was little girl, I idolized my Grampy, who drove Ladder 1 at the Peabody Fire Station and was the firehouse cook. He passed away in 2007 at the age of 64. In his honor, I began the project Solar for Our Superheroes, in order to give back to the heroes in my life.”
Marla and the HomeNav team celebrate Krissy and Solar for our Superheroes. Want to learn more about Solar for our Superheroes? Give me a call at 877-828-1827. Can’t wait to talk with you.
