Joy

Joy, I’ve learned, is an attitude, a way of thinking and of being. Several years ago, my daughter made me beautiful yarn-wrapped letters spelling JOY and they hung in my bedroom where I could see them first thing each morning. I was on a joy journey. And I found it (and the Christmas ornament too)! It was in me the whole time, I just had to figure out how to let it out.

Yes, there are challenges and setbacks in life and this year has been full of them – both personal and business. And every challenge and setback brought about some new revelation, a new person in our lives, someone there to offer help, a hug, or a new idea.

I’ve hinted at some of this through my blogs, podcasts and posts…and the details really don’t matter. What does matter is that these challenges and setbacks have been stepping stones (and will continue to be) to finding the joy in life.

Our year is concluding with a wonderful capstone – Scott and I were recently married and starting 2017 in our new home in Oklahoma City together. There are pictures on my Facebook if you’d like to see. The joy of being with someone that gets you and your dreams and aspirations is amazing. That joy and gratefulness is ever present in our lives.

I know this appears to have nothing to do with green homes and green living. Yet it does. Joy and gratefulness are present because of YOU for supporting us at Green Home Coach – reading our blogs and e-news, listening to our Green Gab podcasts, being a client of our green consulting services or HomeNav online home manual service. Joy and gratefulness are present because of your encouraging words to have the conversations about why green is really just another word for many of the things that are truly important to us in our lives and homes – health, safety, comfort and more.

2017 is starting off with opportunities to share this at the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB) International Builders Show in Orlando. If you will be there, I’d love to connect or come visit in the NAHB Professional Women in Building Headquarters where there will be lots happening. We also invite you to hear us speak in one of the Centrals.

Jo Ann Kostik of Jo Ann Kostik Interior Designer LLC in New Orleans and I will be speaking in the Remodelers Central
