Choosing to host the Green Gab podcast, write a book, be involved in Professional Women in Building (a council of the National Association of Home Builders) among other things, means I get the honor of getting to know and making connections with a lot of amazing people. And being able to bring their ideas and mission to the Green Home Coach and Green Gab audience.
In early January 2018, I participated in meetings at the International Builders Show (IBS). It was a wonderful week of connections from seeing one of our Green Gab supporters and clients, AeroBarrier, win IBS Best of Show and Most Innovative product to judging the Green category of the Best of IBS to receiving an award of my own. Yet the most inspiring moment actually happened a few days after the show.
In my inbox, there was a notice of a LinkedIn message from Abby Landry of JL Builders in Asheville, NC. Abby’s message brought home the whole reason I do what I do. Abby has allowed me to share her message with you.
My husband, Jonathan and I met you last Thursday at the NAHB bookstore. I purchased your book and read it yesterday on the travels back home.
This is a resource that my husband and I plan on giving to prospective clients and placing in our housewarming package for new homeowners.
Your work has been inspirational for me as a woman and I hope to take my experience in cooperate wellness and building Third party certified green homes with my husband to the next level by helping others learn how they can achieve a green lifestyle within their home here in our community.
Your book has made it practical for others to learn in a way that’s not intimidating at all. Thanks for your work and it was a pleasure to meet you briefly. Maybe next year I can see you again in Las Vegas at one of the women’s meetings at IBS 2019 and share some of my experiences over the year developing our business model while maintaining our values around taking care of the environment.
Keep up the good work,
PS earlier today Jonathan purchased one more of your books off Amazon for a new homeowner we sold to recently.
Thank you, Abby, for the opportunity to help and for the validation that I’m accomplishing what I set out to do – empower people to live better in homes!
For a little insight on this whole green inspiration and education thing, check out the Green Gab podcast on just that topic. Join me and co-host, Tony Pratte of The Sound Room, as we gab about the benefits of green education, building green, and green financing. And how it’s not about politics or living in a tree house. It’s about thinking, and making, conscious decisions about your home and how you live. One of my goals with green education is inspiring people to take action and contribute to their life being better! Listen in Green Inspiration and Education
